Tarn pays homage

Tarn Pilkington : IFMGA Guide
Nationality: NZ
First worked with Alpine Guides: 1994
Queenstown-based guide Tarn Pilkington freelances for several companies now, but earned his stripes at Mount Cook with Alpine Guides through the 1990's.

Tarn cuts a tall imposing figure, but his friendly and personable demeanour quickly breaks the ice with clients. His relaxed approach is countered by his strong technique and limitless energy on long climbs and high altitude.

Apart from New Zealand's Southern Alps, Tarn has guided and led expeditions on mountains all over the world: including Nepal, South America, and also in Antarctica for both scientific and tourism ventures.

Tarn works the NZ winters as a heliski guide for a Queenstown heliski company. Apart from his climbing and skiing experience he is also a qualified raft guide and an avid mountain biker.
